Privacy Policy

Gridiron Remote — last updated June 2026

Gridiron Remote ("we", "the app") is a tool that maps game controller inputs to keyboard shortcuts on Hudl.com so coaches can review football film with a controller. We take your privacy seriously. This page explains exactly what we collect and why.

What we collect

• License key — you type it in. It's stored locally on your device and sent to our license server (gridiron-backend.vercel.app) to verify your subscription is active.
• Email address — only when you subscribe through Stripe. Used to deliver your license key and subscription receipts. Stored in Stripe; we don't keep a separate copy.
• Anonymous device fingerprint — a random UUID we generate the first time the app runs, then SHA-256-hashed. It identifies your device to the license server so we can enforce the 2-device limit. The hash cannot be reversed to identify you.
• Device name and OS — to show you which devices a license is active on (e.g. "MacBook Pro — macOS"). The Chromebook extension reports a generic "Chromebook — ChromeOS" label.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not read, store, or transmit anything from Hudl. The Chromebook extension only dispatches keyboard events to the page; it does not read Hudl film data, account info, team rosters, or any user-generated content.
• We do not run analytics or telemetry. There is no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no error reporting service.
• We do not sell, share, or trade any user data with third parties.
• We do not access your browser history, bookmarks, downloads, or any other site.

How payment is handled

Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your billing information directly; we never see your card number. Stripe's privacy policy applies to that data.

How email is handled

When you subscribe, your license key is emailed to you from coach_yash@chucktherock.com via Google Workspace SMTP. Your email address is stored only inside Stripe as part of your customer record. We do not use it for marketing.

Data retention and deletion

If you cancel your subscription, your customer record and license remain in Stripe per Stripe's retention policy. To request deletion of all data associated with your account, email coach_yash@chucktherock.com.

Chromebook extension specifics

The Chrome Web Store extension requests these permissions:

• storage — to save your license key, controller choice, and on/off toggle on your device.
• host_permissions: gridiron-backend.vercel.app — to verify your license with our server.
• content_scripts on *.hudl.com — to read controller input and send keyboard events to the Hudl video player. No Hudl content is read or transmitted.
